Oracle Database Appliance Models
Every Oracle Database Appliance ships in one of two shapes. The single-node models run one server for single-instance databases, and they have carried an S, M, or L label depending on the generation. The HA models pair two servers with shared storage for Oracle Real Application Clusters, where a node can fail and the database keeps running. The line has moved from Intel Xeon to AMD EPYC over the last few years, and each generation has added cores, memory, and NVMe flash. Below is every model from the X7-2 through the current X11, with the Oracle datasheet for each.
2025 · AMD EPYC (32-core)
Oracle Database Appliance X11
The X11 is the current generation. Each server carries two 32-core AMD EPYC processors, and the X11-HA scales to as many as 128 cores and 3 TB of memory across its two nodes. The X11-S and X11-L cover single-instance workloads, licensing from a small starting core count up to 32 cores on the S and 64 on the L. All three models run entirely on NVMe flash.
2023 · AMD EPYC (32-core)
Oracle Database Appliance X10
The X10 was the first Oracle Database Appliance built on AMD EPYC, a real jump in core density over the Intel generations before it. The X10-L pairs two 32-core processors with up to 1.5 TB of memory and up to 54.4 TB of NVMe flash, and the X10-HA extends that to two nodes with up to 3 TB of memory. The X10-S covers the entry single-instance case.
2022 · Intel Xeon (16-core)
Oracle Database Appliance X9-2
The X9-2 ran on Intel Xeon Ice Lake, with 16-core processors across the line. This generation retired the older M model in favor of the L, so the single-node choices became the X9-2S and the larger X9-2L. The X9-2-HA delivered two-node Real Application Clusters on the same processor family with a shared storage shelf.

Oracle Database Appliance X8-2
The X8-2 was the last full Intel generation before the move to AMD. The X8-2S is a single 16-core server, the X8-2M doubles that to two sockets, and the X8-2-HA adds a second node and a shared storage shelf for high availability. Much of the ODA Handbook is written against an X8-2-HA in our lab, so this generation runs through the book’s examples.
2017 · Intel Xeon (10 to 36 cores)
Oracle Database Appliance X7-2
The X7-2 introduced the modern S, M, and HA lineup and moved the appliance onto all-NVMe flash. The X7-2S is a single-socket 10-core server, the X7-2M steps up to two sockets and 36 cores, and the X7-2-HA pairs two servers with shared storage. Plenty of shops still run one, which is why its datasheet stays on this page.
